University of Brighton
The department of Fashion and Textiles, within the Faculty of Art. Design and Media at the University of Brighton is now fully engaged with the Woad/Waide Interreg project.
The project involves 2nd year degree students on the BA (Hons) Fashion with Business Studies and the BA (Hons) Textiles with Business Studies courses.
The theme is Blue and the briefing involved lectures on the history and significance of woad dyeing in the textiles industry, colour theory, and visual and intellectual inspiration for concept development. Woad dyeing workshops took place on 11th October 2013 where textiles students learned a variety of woad dyeing processes and produced interesting and unexpected results.
